Canadian Foodgrains Bank

Listowel is a community surrounded by agriculture.  Supporting the Canadian Foodgrains Bank is a passion of many members in our church.

The Foodgrains Committee at Bethel rents land every year, works the ground, plants seeds and harvest crops which are then marketed.  The profits from these growing projects are donated to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, and matched 4:1 by the Canadian Government.

In 2011 the Foodgrains committee at Bethel CRC organized a “Harvest for Hunger” and planted 160 acres of soybeans as part of a world record attempt for harvest speed. While the record was just missed, the day was a huge success, raising more than $250 000  for the Canadian Foodgrains Bank.
